Neluari are an idea. 'They' are adamant they are not a band. Many members have joined and left since the bands inception in 2002, but the feeling is strong, 'We are Neluari, we are One'. This philosophy has stemmed from the brutal birth and renewal of a new way of thinking in South Africa. A new culture, and though many have lost sight of the concept, a nation of many colors.

Their sound could be defined as commercial, or pop, or ambient, though under those layers, you begin to embrace something different. Soulful, mythical, raw, their combined impetus is meant to provoke with subtle honesty. Josh Myers from Independant described it well: 'now this casts a new light on world music'. And non-traditional world music is is. You'll be swayed by the pulsations and the movements that erupt from their seemingly innocous song titles. The bandmembers are currently spread all over the world, but their need to create and feed the monster, has not diminished.
